Shikoku has a 1,000-km full-circle course, matching the distance of “bicycle kingdom” Taiwan’s island-circling course. The romance-filled “Shikoku Circuit Cycling” is rapidly gaining popularity as a vacation activity.

Ehime is home to one of the best cycling courses in Japan, Shimanami Kaido. Ehime openly welcomes both Japanese and international guests to experience this scenic cycling road. Matsuyama Airport has both Seoul and Shanghai flights, and plans to open a flight to Taiwan this summer. Matsuyama Airport even has a cycle station with changing rooms so that individuals can set up their bikes that they took as luggage and change clothes to quickly get started on their journey.

After traveling across a series of three bridges from the mainland, you will find yourself on the island of Shikoku, consisting of the four prefectures of Ehime, Kagawa, Tokushima and Kochi.

The four prefectures of Shikoku are filled with a variety of culture, climate and beautiful sightseeing spots. These include Ehime’s Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring in Japan; the Naruto Strait of Tokushima, which is known for having some of the largest Naruto whirlpools in the world; Kagawa’s Kotohira-gu and Zentsuji temple, as well its udon (noodle) tour; and the oceans, mountains and limpid Shimanto River of Kochi.
