Elderly man injured when struck on pedestrian crossing – Orange

An elderly man has been flown to a Sydney hospital after being knocked off his mobility scooter at Orange earlier today.

Emergency services were called to Wentworth Avenue about 1pm (Friday 15 August 2025), and found a 90-year-old man had been thrown onto the roadway after being struck by a car at a marked pedestrian crossing.

The man was taken to Orange Base Hospital before being flown to Westmead Hospital for further treatment. He is described as being in a critical condition.

The driver of the car involved, an 87-year-old woman, was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved negative.

Officers attached to Central West Police District have suspended her licence pending further inquiries and her car has been seized and will undergo a mechanical examination.
