An elderly man has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney’s north yesterday.
About 11.30am (Monday 20 July 2026), emergency services were called to the intersection of Penshurst and Macmahon Street, North Willoughby, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command attended and were told a Toyota van was turning right at the intersection when it collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian – an 81-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The driver – a 37-year-old man – was uninjured and returned a negative breath test at the scene.
About 10pm yesterday, police were notified the 81-year-old had died in hospital.
North Shore detectives have commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.
