In response to member reported issues regarding prescription tokens the AMA recently met with representatives of the Department of Health, Services Australia, Australian Digital Health Agency, and Medical Software Industry Association.
The AMA provided feedback on some of problems GPs are experiencing with electronic prescribing such as missing repeat prescriptions tokens (which are either lost or not generated), and resending or reissuing prescription tokens.
To address this, the Department of Health has subsequently provided an Electronic Prescribing in your practice training module and a factsheet for prescribers: Electronic prescriptions – An overview for prescribers.
