An Emergency Alert message has been issued by Lockhart River Council to the Lockhart River community which is expected to be affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Trevor.
The message advises that the community can expect to be affected by destructive winds from 3pm and residents should warn others and seek shelter now.
Police sirens in the town will sound for residents to seek immediate shelter.
Residents have been further advised to listen to local radio and visit www.bom.gov.au for more information.
