Emergency crews responding to house fire at Elizabeth Downs, South Australia

Police are investigating a house fire at Elizabeth Downs overnight, believed to have been started by two molotov cocktails thrown at the home.

Just after 4am on Thursday 15 August, the occupants of a home Hanson Road home were woken by the sound of smashing glass and a fire in the lounge room of their home.

The three people home at the time quickly doused the fire before it could spread and then evacuated the house.

Police, fire crews and ambulance officers attended. A 37-year-old woman from the house was treated for smoke inhalation while two men were uninjured.

On investigation it appears two molotov cocktails were thrown through the lounge window of the home, which ignited and caused significant damage.

The motive for the attack is currently unclear but Northern District Police have ruled out any link with recent bikie violence.
