Employment expos showcase exciting career opportunities in rail

The Wodonga Jobs Expo is a careers, training, and skills event hosting over 50 organisations and employers, and will be held this Thursday 7 September at the Wodonga Exhibition Centre

The Expo is a great chance for attendees to talk to professionals in industries of interest, attend interactive workshops, networking activities, forums, and seminars. Staff from Inland Rail and contractor McConnell Dowell will be on hand to discuss amazing job opportunities available in the rail sector.

The Inland Rail team have also been on the ground in Wagga Wagga, sharing experiences and talking about career pathways with students at the Regional Industry Education Partnerships Program’s Try a Trade & Employment Expo, and the Clontarf Foundation’s 2023 Riverina Employment Forum. Over 600 local students attended across the two events.

At the Try a Trade Expo Inland Rail stand, students had the opportunity to don a virtual reality headset and experience firsthand a scissor lift operation, located on a rail construction site.

Inland Rail will support hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in Victoria and New South Wales throughout construction, supporting complementary business investment and expansions within the region.

Stephen Jones, Inland Rail Director of Health, Safety and Environment, said:

“Our Inland Rail teams are pleased to be on the ground at employment expos in New South Wales and Victoria. The expos provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with students and showcase the variety of jobs available in the rail sector.

“These interactive event stands are a chance for local students and community members to meet our Inland Rail Skills Academy team and talk about the project and upcoming opportunities to gain valuable skills and work with Inland Rail.”
