Emu Creek Hall Road temporary closure for Bridge Renewal project

Toowoomba Regional Council will temporarily close Emu Creek Hall Road, Crows Nest on Thursday, February 28, 2019 as part of bridge replacement works. The project is due for completion in late June 2019 (weather permitting).

Toowoomba Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Infrastructure Services Committee Chair Cr Carol Taylor said the upgrade project involves replacing the single lane timber bridge with a stronger, more durable single lane concrete bridge with improved flood immunity.

“The new structure will improve stream flow, flood immunity and safety for all road users, ensuring improved access for the local community.

“Council is grateful for the funding that has been provided through Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Program to upgrade the bridge.

Cr Taylor said that during the construction period, traffic management and detours would be in place for the safety of work crews and motorists.

“Council asks the community to please drive to conditions and be aware that temporary changes to traffic flow will occur.

“Construction work will take place generally between the hours of 6.00am – 6.00pm on weekdays with potentially some weekend work.

“Council will seek to minimise disruptions where possible,” Cr Taylor said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction.”

The Bridges Renewal Program provides funding to upgrade and replace bridges to enhance access for local communities and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access.
