EPA lays charges over stockpiles of e-waste and waste tyres

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has laid 12 charges against a Balwyn North company and one individual under the Environment Protection Act 1970, following a comprehensive investigation into stockpiles of e-waste and waste tyres at the company’s Broadmeadows premises.

The charges have been laid against Tyre Crumb (Vic) Pty Ltd and its director

The charges allege that the company contravened a requirement of an EPA Clean Up Notice, had stockpiles that failed to comply with the storage conditions, size limits and separation distances specified in EPA guidelines, breached conditions of their EPA licence and failed to notify EPA of those breaches as required in the site’s EPA licence.

The breaches are criminal offences under the Environment Protection Act 1970.
