The St John WA Esperance Sub Centre is now home to four (FTE) paid paramedics, forming part of the Cook Government’s continued investment in ambulance response capabilities in the bush.
As well as more FTE than ever before, the sub centre will now operate a new hybrid model that has been successfully implemented in Geraldton, Harvey and Margaret River.
The additional paramedics have been funded as part of the Cook Government’s modernised contract with St John WA.
Esperance joins the recently bolstered Margaret River and Harvey sub centres.
Overall, the Cook Government is delivering an additional 31 FTE paid paramedics in country WA a significant boost that will go a long way to improving ambulance services in the bush.
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
“The Cook Government committed to boosting ambulance services in the bush and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
“Esperance is the ninth country area to receive a significant boost and provide even more support for volunteers, surrounding sub branches and the community.
“Our volunteers and country paramedics do an amazing job and we know this additional FTE will go a long way to supporting them to deliver ambulance services across the vast geography of our State.”
As stated by Agricultural Region MLC Shelley Payne:
“Esperance is a thriving WA community and these paid paramedics ensure our ambulance service can continue to meet our needs.
“Our fantastic volunteers will be well supported by these four FTE paid paramedics and the new hybrid sub centre model.”
