Euro VI introduction needs incentives

National Road Transport Association

By now you will probably be aware that the Albanese Government has committed to the Euro VI emissions standard for new trucks.

The introduction of the new standard will start on 1 November 2024 and the phase-in will be staged over 12 months.

NatRoad’s policy position is that the Federal Government needs to work with the States and Territories and incentivise operators to buy the new Euro VI trucks through things like stamp duty and registration charge cuts.

We support the introduction of safer, newer trucks and will take the case to policy-makers to make our case for assistance.
