Evade Police arrest

Around 8.40pm last night (5 March 2019), officers on patrol sighted a Toyota Camry travelling at speed along Hepburn Avenue in Kingsley before it is alleged it almost collided with another vehicle as it proceeded through the roundabout at the intersection of Hepburn Ave and Glengarry Drive.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens an attempted to stop the vehicle. It is alleged the driver failed to stop and continued through the Kingsley, Duncraig and Padbury areas. It is further alleged when the Camry was travelling east along Hepburn Ave the driver contravened a red traffic control light at the intersection of Hepburn Avenue and Mitchell Freeway.

It is alleged as the Camry attempted to turn from Hepburn Ave into Gibson Ave in Padbury, it collided with a Suzuki Swift that was travelling westbound on Hepburn Avenue. The female driver of the Suzuki was not injured.

Police apprehended the driver of the Camry and took him into custody.

A 33-year-old man from Ballajura has been charged with:-

• Reckless Driving speeding by 45 km/h or more on a length of road to Escape Pursuit;

• Fail to Stop when Directed by Police Officer;

• No Authority to Drive;

• Possessed any Drug Paraphernalia in or on which there was a Prohibited Drug or Plant;

• Possess a Prohibited Drug (Methylamphetamine); and

• Driver Contravene Red Traffic Control Signal.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 6 March 2019.
