Evade police arrest

About 10.40pm last night (13 August 2019), police on patrol sighted a Kia Optima sedan travelling in the Lathlain area. It is alleged the Kia was stolen earlier in the evening from the driveway of a home in Kelmscott.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Alexander Road in Belmont but it is alleged the driver failed to stop.

Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and followed the vehicle through various suburbs.

The vehicle drove over a tyre deflation device and stopped on Roberts Road in Lathlain where a man and woman were taken into custody by police.

Cannington Detectives have charged a 27-year-old woman from Kelmscott with:-

• Steal Motor Vehicle and Drives or Assumes Control without Consent;

• Reckless Driving Speeding by 45km/h or more on a length of road to Escape Pursuit;

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (Circumstance of Aggravation); and

• No Authority to Drive – Suspended.

She is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on 23 August 2019.

A 28-year-old man from Kelmscott will appear in court at a later date relating to the stolen vehicle.
