Cardinia Shire Council is hosting a new futuristic exhibition at Emerald Hills Hub called Topia.
Open from Friday 6 October until Friday 20 October 2023, the Topia exhibition will explore life 60,000 years into the future.
Aiming to question and create conversations around what humanity’s place will be tomorrow, next week, and in the years to come, Topia is an immersive experience which urges us to forget the current world and imagine a post-human time.
Directed by local filmmaker, Nicola Blackmore, the exhibition features an exciting range of artistic mediums such as film, sculpture, and occasional performance.
Local volunteers, community groups and members of the CFA from in and around the Hills also helped bring this new exhibition to life, as they were involved in the consultation process, workshops, and rehearsals with groups of actors, musicians, and technical crew.
The Topia exhibition is supported and funded in part by Council’s 2023 Cardinia Arts Grants.
The grant program aims to encourage local artists to connect their artistic practice with local communities in new ways and provides financial assistance to local artists for initiatives that utilise, expand, and promote the arts within Cardinia Shire.
Rangers Ward Councillor Jeff Springfield is excited to attend the opening of this new exhibition.
“Topia is unlike anything that we have displayed and explored in the Hills Hub art space before, and I’m excited for the community to visit the exhibition and see it for themselves.” Cr Springfield said.
Topia is open to the public daily from 11am at the Hills Hub, 400A Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, Emerald.
