Sunraysia audiences will be able to immerse themselves in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, performed live by some of Melbourne’s finest musicians, when the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) takes to the Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) stage this Saturday 5 March.

The MSO and Chief Conductor Jaime Martín promise a memorable night of stunning music, in An Evening with the MSO. The performance at MAC represents Jaime’s first regional Victorian program.

While the main performance starts at 7.30pm, all ticket-holders will be able to gain a personal insight into the program in a pre-concert talk from Carlo Antonioli, MSO Cybec Assistant Conductor Fellow, which will take place in the MAC foyer between 6.30pm and 6.50pm.

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 has enthralled thousands, if not millions of people since it premiered in the early 1800s and continues to be a classical hit into modern times.

The famous piece of music has a history dating back to 1811 when it premiered at a benefit concert for soldiers wounded fighting Napoleon’s forces, proving an instant hit with audiences of the time.

A timeless classic, it’s still widely appreciated today, featuring several years ago in the climax of the Oscar-winning film The King’s Speech.

Tickets are available by visiting www.milduraartscentre.com.au and clicking ‘book tickets’ at the top of the page, or at the MAC box office.
