Experienced leaders join West Moreton Hospital and Health Board

  • An experienced health sector committee chair has been appointed as the new Board Chair to govern the West Moreton Hospital and Health Board.

A 10-person board underpinned with experience in health, business and law has been appointed to govern the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (HHS).

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women Shannon Fentiman announced the newly appointed board, which will be led by Sue Scheinpflug.

The new Board Chair was formerly the Board’s Deputy Chair and has been on the Board since 2016.

She has more than 20 years’ experience as a Chief Executive Officer in the human services and health sectors and is also the Chair of West Moreton HHS’s Research and Quality and Safety Committees and Health Translation Queensland, as well as a Board Member of the Ipswich Hospital Foundation.

Four people have also been newly appointed to the Board. Darren Brown, Ian Walker, Mike Bosel, and Temira Dewis bring a wealth of experience across the justice and health sectors.

Mr Walker has had an extensive legal career, and also was an elected State Member between 2012 and 2017, while Mr Brown is an experienced paramedic and ministerial advisor.

Mrs Dewis is currently Director of KALAN Enterprise and several Aboriginal Corporations and brings considerable experience and knowledge of the health service.

Mr Bosel is currently the CEO of the Brisbane South Primary Health Network, and Professor Jody Currie has had an extensive career in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health.

Adjunct Associate Professor Deanne Minniecon and Professor Gerald Holtmann have renewed their membership for another term, joining four continuing members still within their current term.
