Explosion at Kingston

Investigators are seeking witnesses to an explosion at Jacaranda Avenue in Kingston this evening.

Police were called to the address after an improvised explosive device detonated leaving a 52-year-old man with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial information indicates the man moved a bucket in the front yard of the Jacaranda Avenue home when it exploded.

An emergency declaration made under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) has now been revoked.

A crime scene remains in place with specialist police on scene.

The 52-year-old resident was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious lower leg and concussion injuries.

Investigations continue.
