Expressions of Interest open for 2022 Art Studio Trail

Arts Studio Trail

Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from artists and galleries wishing to participate in the 2022 Southern Highlands ArtsTrail.

Council’s Director Corporate Strategy and Resourcing Carmel Foster said art lovers were keen to see the return of the popular event following last year’s COVID hiatus.

“The pandemic not only forced the cancellation of many of our Shire’s events but stifled community interaction and disrupted social connections,” she said.

“One of the great joys of the ArtsTrail is that it provides the public with a rare opportunity to meet the makers and to see their work in the environment within which it was created.

“And that’s one of the reasons it’s such a popular and well-loved annual event.”

In 2020 thirty-seven studios were involved in the scheme attracting close to 12,000 studio visitors over the two-week period.

“The Arts Trail is also a wonderful opportunity to browse the studios and to buy pieces direct from the workshop floor,” Ms Foster added.

All participating studios and galleries will be required to open on both weekends of the trail and participating artists and studios must be located within the Wingecarribee Shire.

The 2022 Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail will run over the weekend of the 5 and 6 November and again the following weekend of the 12 and 13 November.
