Expressions of interest open for the Threatened Species Scientific Committee

We are seeking leading scientists to play a pivotal role in protecting native species and ecological communities as a member of the Commonwealth Threatened Species Scientific Committee.

Expressions of interest are invited to contribute to the Government’s commitment to nature positive outcomes through protection of native species and ecological communities by providing independent advice to the Minister for the Environment and Water.

Successful applicants will have significant standing in a relevant field and be highly collaborative.

Expertise is sought in one or more of the following:

  • ecology conservation, and management of terrestrial, freshwater and marine species and ecological communities
  • conservation genetics
  • fire ecology
  • First Nations management of country
  • environmental threats and their management
  • environmental restoration
  • ex-situ conservation of plants and animals.

Committee membership will be selected with consideration of expertise, professional standing and experience, gender, geographical representation, career stage and cultural diversity.

Women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Multiple positions will be filled.

Remuneration is provided to members consistent with relevant Remuneration Tribunal Determinations.
