Extradition – Historical sexual offence in Darwin

Northern Territory Police are extraditing a 44-year-old male to Darwin to face a charge for an historical child sexual offence from 2003.

Members of the Domestic and Family Violence Section travelled to Sydney to escort the man back to Darwin and will arrive this afternoon. The male will be transported to the Darwin Correctional Centre and his matter will be heard at a later date.

He has been charged with:

• Sexual intercourse without consent

NT Police provided a COVID safety plan for the extradition which was approved by the NT Chief Health Officer.

The male will be subject to Northern Territory Correctional Services’ COVID management plan, including mandatory 14 days isolation for people coming from a designated COVID hot spot.
