Extreme speeder arrested at Lewiston, South Australia

A driver was arrested after being detected travelling at an extreme speed on Port Wakefield Road last night.

A patrol initially spotted the blue sedan doing an estimated 160 km/h on Waterloo Corner Road, Bolivar, at 10.30pm on Tuesday 12 April. It continued at speed and headed north on Port Wakefield Road.

PolAir was requested and was quickly overhead, managing to track the blue Ford sedan as it continued driving erratically, at times on the wrong side of the road, to Lewiston.

Patrols were directed to the house at Lewiston where the driver had gone inside.

The 19-year-old Lewiston man was arrested and charged with driving at an extreme speed, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, driving while disqualified and driving without a rear number plate. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 20 May.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
