The Territory is famous for unique events unlike those held anywhere else, and Supercars fans have confirmed this yet again, voting the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown the best round of the 2021 Supercars Championship.

The Darwin round was voted 2021 Fans’ Choice Award ‘Best Event’ via an online poll. This year’s event offered the fullest motorsports program to date, featuring not only the Supercars but also the Australian Superbikes, Stadium Super Trucks, Nitro Up North and local support categories.

The 2022 Merlin Darwin Triple Crown looks like being another fan favourite, with the Supercars, Australian Superbikes and S5000, plus two nights of Nitro Up North featuring the Australian Top Fuel Top Fuel Championship, Top Australian Doorslammers, and support categories. The event will take place at Hidden Valley Raceway from 17-19 June 2022. Tickets available now at www.darwinsupercars.com.au.

Quotes from NT Major Events Company CEO Tim Watsford:

“This year’s Merlin Darwin Triple Crown was pretty special, and it is incredible to see this recognised by the fans. What the fans think is more important than anything else – without them there would be no event. We saw more than 38,000 attendances at this year’s event, and a record-breaking crowd of 10,000 on the Friday night alone.

“To win this award, beating iconic rounds such as Bathurst, is a huge achievement, and we are working hard to deliver the goods again for fans at next year’s Merlin Darwin Triple Crown. The award proves the Darwin round is the best in the country!”

Quotes from Supercars COO Shane Howard:

“We’re pleased fans voted the Darwin event as their favourite in 2021. It was by far the biggest weekend we’ve had in over two years, and it was fantastic to see a big event with thousands of fans enjoying themselves trackside and across the Top End.

“It was such a thrill for everyone at Supercars to get to race in front of a big crowd, filled with fans enjoying what we do in Darwin. Everyone is looking forward to returning in June 2022 for the first official Indigenous Round for Supercars.”
