AgForce is encouraging members to share their thoughts on the effectiveness of the Government’s Farm Management Deposits Scheme (FMDS).
The Federal Government’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is conducting an evaluation into the widely-used initiative, which allows primary producers to set aside pre-tax income in good years to cover low-income years.
AgForce will be providing a formal submission, however producers and industry stakeholders (such as bankers, accountants and advisors), have also been called on to give valuable individual feedback.
The evaluation will assess the operation of the FMDS, looking at how effectively the scheme is administered and whether policy objectives are being met.
Members’ feedback will help to optimise the scheme and can be submitted through an online survey.
Submissions close on 26 April.
