Fatal crash at Gawler River, South Australia

Police are investigating a fatal crash at Gawler River this morning.

About 7.15am on Thursday 1 November, police and emergency services responded to reports of a Ford SUV hitting a tree at the corner of Boundary and Dawkins Roads.

The car burst into flames on impact which subsequently started a small grass fire. CFS crews attended and extinguished the fires.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene. He is believed to be a man aged in his early 30s from the northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Boundary Road and Dawkins Road was closed to traffic for several hours but has since been reopened.

Major Crash Investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The death takes the state’s road toll to 61 compared with 80 at the same time last year.
