A man has died while moving sheep in the state’s Central West today.
About 11.15am (Friday 25 September 2026), emergency services were called to Newell Highway, Wirrinya, about 65km south of Forbes, with reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and found a prime mover had collided with a motorbike while sheep were being moved.
The motorbike rider – a man believed to be in his 60s – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The truck driver – a man aged in his 20s – was uninjured.
He was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to West Wyalong Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Central West Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area as localised traffic diversions are in place.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
