Fatal cyclist crash at Bankstown, NSW

A cyclist has died following a crash in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 10.45pm (Saturday 30 October 2021), emergency services were called to Canterbury Road near Chapel Road, Bankstown, after reports a cyclist had been struck by a vehicle.

A man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however died a short time later.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 50s.

The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured and taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
