Fatal pedestrian crash in Ashfield

Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit will investigate after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Sydney’s Inner-West.

Just before 10am (Monday 1 April 2019), police were called to the intersection of Georges River Road and Milton Street, Ashfield, after reports of a pedestrian struck by a Toyota Prado while walking across a crossing.

An 89-year-old man was located unconscious at the scene.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he later died.

The male driver of the Prado has been taken to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

A crime has been established the Crash Investigation Unit will examine the scene.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision relevant to the investigation is urged to come forward.
