Fatal pedestrian crash – Smithfield

A woman has died after a pedestrian and truck crash last week.

Around 9am on Friday 22 September 2023, emergency services were called to The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a truck.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the pedestrian – a 84-year-old woman – before taking her to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The truck driver – a 54-year-old man – was taken to Fairfield Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police have since been notified the woman died in hospital earlier today (Monday 25 September 2023)

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
