Fatal traffic crash in Alligator Creek, QLD

A man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic crash in Alligator Creek (south of Townsville) this morning.

Preliminary inquiries indicate that at approximately 4.50am two vehicles, a sedan and a prime mover with a trailer, travelling in opposite directions on the Bruce Highway have collided head on.

As a result of the collision the driver of the sedan, a 28-year-old Cloncurry man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 38-year-old Cannonvale man, was not physically injured however was transported to hospital for observation.

The Bruce Highway was closed for a period of time while initial investigations took place and has now been re-opened.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.
