Fatal two-vehicle crash at Tamworth, NSW

A man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Tamworth yesterday.

Shortly after 6.40pm (Thursday 28 April 2022), emergency services were called to the Oxley Highway, near Tamworth airport access, following reports a Ford Fairlane and an MG sedan had collided in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Ford – a 79-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

The driver of the MG – a 41-year-old woman – was also treated at the scene, before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers from Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist police.

As inquires continue, police urge any witnesses – including motorists with dashcam vision – to come forward and contact Tamworth Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
