Fatal unit fire at St Morris, South Australia

Police are preparing a report for the Coroner following a fatal unit fire at St Morris this morning.

Police, MFS and paramedics rushed to Williams Avenue, St Morris by reports of an explosion and fire coming from a group of single storey units at 7am on Friday 12 June.

Two units were affected by the blaze and firefighters were able to prevent the fire spreading to neighbouring units.

Sadly, a 71-year-old man was found deceased in one of the units.

A 49-year-old man, from a neighbouring unit, suffered smoke inhalation as he tried to assist the elderly resident and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Fire cause investigators attended the scene and the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Police will be preparing a report for the Coroner.
