Detectives are investigating after the death of a 49-year-old woman in Townsville during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to a Granville Street address in Pimlico around 1am after reports a woman had been stabbed.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A crime scene has been established and investigators are on scene.
A 40-year-old man was taken into custody and is assisting police with their inquiries.
The relationship between the man and woman is under investigation however it has been confirmed they were known to one another.
