Father’s Day done differently

Father’s Day is this Sunday and although the traditional family get together may be off the cards, there are still ways to show your dad you care. We’ve pulled together some Father’s Day ideas to help you celebrate.

Dinner and a movie

Spread the lockdown love this Sunday by ordering dad’s favourite feed from one of Bayside’s fantastic restaurants. Feel like elevating your culinary prowess? Why not cook dad a special dish and let him relax as you give him the Michelin Star treatment. Then chuck on his favourite flick, dim the lights and break out the popcorn.

Nature Walk and Mandala Art

Use your one hour of daily exercise to explore one of Bayside’s beautiful walks together. A Sunday stroll along the coast or escape to nature at a Bayside reserve. While you’re on your walk, collect some natural materials and create your own piece of Mandala art together.

Gift hunt

Spoil dad with a treasure hunt of gifts hidden throughout the house. Create family trivia based clues to lead him to the next hiding spot. Check out our Bayside Still Open for business directory for local businesses operating safely during restrictions and offering great father’s day gifts.

Virtual catch up

If 2020 has shown us anything, it’s the ability to stay connected via video calls. A traditional phone call works just as well and if you’re feeling really old school, dust off your notepad, pick up a pen and send dad a letter of gratitude so he knows how much you care.

DIY Challenge

Assemble your materials, set a time limit and challenge each other to a DIY-off. Think a race to the best bird box or side table masterpiece. Ready, set, build!

Ultimately a hug and a heartfelt reminder of your love is all it takes to make Father’s Day special.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s in Bayside and beyond.
