Federal Senator officially opens bridge

Horsham Rural City Council welcomed Senator Jana Stewart to Horsham for the official opening of the Hamilton Street Pedestrian Bridge.

The ceremony marked the completion of the City to River – Riverfront Activation Stage 1 projects.

On the city side of the river, an additional connecting ramp along Menadue Street is now open for use.

We thank the Commonwealth and State Governments for their investments in major infrastructure projects in our municipality that have created a ‘new look’ riverfront, the Nature and Water Play Park and the Hamilton Street Bridge.

These three projects cost a total of $8 million, of which $3.1 million was allocated from the Commonwealth Government and $3.9 million from the Victorian Government.

Council contributed 12.5 per cent of the overall project costs.

Major infrastructure projects wouldn’t happen without the support other levels of government and we look forward to future funding partnerships.
