Fire at Glenelg North unit block, South Australia

Police are investigating a fire at a Glenelg North apartment block this morning.

Police and fire crews were called to a fire in a building on the North Esplanade, Glenelg North at 3.50am on Wednesday 6 February.

The building is the same one that lost its roof in a storm last year.

Patrols found a squatter in one of the units, where the fire started. The 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Police will further speak to her once she is medically cleared.

Other residents were able to evacuate safely and there were no other reports of injuries.

The unit sustained significant damage. The majority of the other units at the premises also sustained some water and smoke damage.

Fire cause investigators are attending the scene this morning.
