Fire Investigation at Hope Island, QLD

Police are investigating a house fire at Hope Island overnight, 30 June.

Initial investigations indicate that around 11:45pm, police and emergency services were called to a Sickle Avenue address following reports a residence was on fire.

The house was extensively damaged by fire, which has since been extinguished.

A 44-year-old man and an 84-year-old man sustained life-threatening burn injuries and were transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

A 59-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries while evacuating the house and was also transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A 38-year-old man evacuated the house and was not physically injured.

Another 38-year-old man was located deceased inside the property.

A crime scene has been declared while police investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information, or relevant CCTV, dashcam or other vision from the area around the time of the incident, to contact police.
