Firearm discharged in public – Central North Police District, NSW

A man has been charged after discharging a firearm in a public place in the state’s north west last year.

About 7.40am Monday (25 November 2019), a man noticed a Nissan Patrol towing a trailer on a property near Ivanhoe Road.

The vehicle stopped on Ivanhoe Road after a dog in the trailer fell off.

It will be alleged the driver of the vehicle then discharged his firearm in the air twice.

Following inquiries, about 2pm Wednesday (29 January 2020) officers attached to Central North Police District and Rural Crime Prevention Team, attended a property near Cobar and arrested a 62-year-old man.

The man was taken to his home in Cobar, where officers seized firearms and ammunition.

He was then taken to Cobar Police Station, where he was charged with fire firearm in or near public place.

He was issued with a future court attendance notice to appear at Cobar Local Court on Wednesday 29 April 2020.
