A man is due to appear in court today charged with firearm and kidnap offences after a loaded gun was found when police forced entry into a unit at Bonnyrigg overnight.
About 7.20pm (Saturday 6 November 2021) emergency services were called to a unit on Bonnyrigg Avenue following reports 34-year-old woman was being held against her will.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command and the Public Order and Riot Squad attended the scene and were met by the woman, who told them she’d managed to escape; however, said a man inside the unit was allegedly armed with a firearm and a knife.
A short time later, police forced entry to the unit and arrested a 35-year-old man and two women, aged 42 and 32.
Police will allege precursor chemicals and equipment for the manufacture of methylamphetamine were found inside the unit, while a Police Dog found a loaded firearm nearby.
All three were taken to Fairfield Police Station where the man was charged with 11 offences including detain person intend serious indictable offence, reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily (two counts), and possess a loaded firearm.
He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today.
The two women have been released pending further investigation.
The 34-year-old woman suffered arm injuries while inside the unit but did not need medical attention.
