First Christmas fair comes to Green Square

City of Sydney

Market stalls full of festive wares and jingles in the air will encourage everyone to step into the Christmas spirit at the City of Sydney’s first Christmas fair at Green Square.

Green Square plaza will be transformed into a wonderland of markets with Christmas lights, food and music on Saturday 14 December.

From 6.00pm to 10.00pm the fair will feature more than 30 stalls with a focus on locally-sourced or made goods.

“Green Square library and plaza is the heart of our new Green Square community, making the plaza the perfect place to hold our first Christmas fair,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“The Green Square Christmas fair will provide Sydneysiders and visitors alike with an opportunity to celebrate our local artistic community and purchase locally-made gifts for friends and family.

“It will also be a wonderful chance for local residents to come together and celebrate Christmas.”

Visitors can pick up a range of unique handmade products, from Christmas puddings, organic chocolate and homemade relishes to scented candles, beauty products and festive-themed pet treats.

Shoppers can refuel at a selection of food trucks offering vegetarian dishes, German sausages, sweets, coffee and ice cream, and enjoy a drink with friends at the outdoor licensed bar.

Adding to the festive cheer, DJs will entertain the crowds and Santa will make a special guest appearance.

Green Square Library will stay open until 10pm, so locals can borrow and stock up for the summer holidays.

Santa stockings filled with goodies will be on sale for $5, with all proceeds going to the City’s Christmas charity partner Surf Life Saving NSW.
