First ever Geelong Design Week to showcase our design-driven future

Geelong’s
design-driven future will be in the spotlight next month as the City hosts the
first ever Geelong Design Week from 19 – 29 March.

More than 80 events including exhibitions, workshops, tours, projections,
pop-up shops and an international innovation symposium are set to showcase why
Geelong is Australia’s only UNESCO City of Design.

Alongside new innovations and technologies, the program explores local creative
and cultural talents, our Indigenous heritage and inspires thinking and
conversation around the future shape of our city.

The Geelong Design Week 2020 theme, doing it differently, highlights
Geelong’s unique creative heritage while showing how clever design can be used
to discover new solutions to societal challenges.

Mayor Stephanie
Asher:

I’m excited to see so
many high-calibre events featured in the program for Geelong’s first ever
design week.

There’ll be much to explore and experience – from exhibitions, technology and
workshops, to conversations around innovation and sustainable cities and
discovering how our unique creative heritage is shaping our design driven
future.

This is a fantastic celebration of Geelong’s creative and design talents
and we thank everyone who has thrown their support behind it.

The level of creativity happening locally and our ability to attract some
of the world’s most renowned design experts demonstrates why Geelong is
Australia’s only UNESCO City of Design, and is a major step towards achieving
the community’s clever and creative vision.
