Five arrested after stolen vehicle rammed by police in East Melbourne

Police have arrested five children after a stolen vehicle was followed across a number of eastern and Melbourne CBD suburbs before being rammed by police in East Melbourne overnight.

Police sighted the stolen Black BMW sedan in Boronia near Mountain Highway at about 10.25pm.

The car was stolen from Footscray on 9 April.

With the assistance of the Air Wing, police tracked the stolen vehicle as it drove erratically and dangerously across suburbs including Glen Iris, Camberwell, Richmond, Collingwood, and Melbourne CBD.

The BMW was allegedly observed travelling at more than 190km/hr on East Link.

The car continued to be driven erratically and at speed causing significant risk to the public in the Melbourne CBD.

Police bought the BMW to a stop by ramming it on Wellington Parade, East Melbourne about 11.20pm to prevent any further serious risk to the community.
