Five injured when 4WD rolls, NSW

Five men have been taken to hospital after a single-vehicle crash on the Central Coast last night.

About 6:15pm (Sunday 10 March 2019), a Toyota Prado was travelling on Hansens Road, Tumbi Umbi, when it left the road, hit a tree stump and rolled.

Three men – all aged 19 – travelling in the back seat were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled.

The middle-seat passenger suffered suspected spinal injuries and has undergone surgery after being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The passenger seated behind the driver suffered suspected leg fractures and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

The third back-seat passenger suffered shoulder and rib injuries, while a 22-year-old man, travelling in the front seat, suffered neck and head injuries. Both were taken to Gosford Hospital.

The driver – also aged 19 – from Tuggerawong, was also taken to Gosford Hospital as a precaution and to undergo mandatory tests.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes and the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The vehicle has been seized for mechanical examination.
