Fleurieu man arrested for online child exploitation offences

A man has been arrested following an investigation into online child exploitation material.

On Tuesday 2 June, investigators from the South Australia Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET), a multi-agency team comprising specialist investigators from South Australia Police and the Australian Federal Police, searched a Fleurieu Peninsula home as part of an online child exploitation material investigation.

Multiple electronic devices were seized for further forensic examination.

Following further investigation, police returned to the home on Tuesday 14 July and arrested a 52-year-old man. He was charged with taking steps to access child exploitation material.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Wednesday 15 July.

Detective Chief Inspector George Fenwick, Officer in Charge of the Special Crime Investigation Section, said the arrest highlights the ongoing commitment of police to investigating offences involving child exploitation material.

“Our officers are dedicated to identifying and holding accountable those who access child exploitation material and contribute to the ongoing harm of children,” he said.
