Flood Recovery Discussions Continue for Latrobe

Federal Minister for Emergency Management Murray Watt and Federal Senator for Victoria Raff Ciccone visited Traralgon yesterday to learn more about the effects of the 2021 flood and storm event and ongoing recovery works.

Minister Watt and Senator Ciccone spoke to local effected businesses including Traralgon Centre Plaza management to understand the impacts experienced.

Latrobe City Council presented the Minister and Senator with opportunities to support infrastructure projects that would mitigate the risks associated with any future flooding events.

This included the Flood Recovery and Resilience Project, which requires a $4.25 million investment to secure the total funding required for a multipurpose precinct at Glenview Park and new pavilion within Traralgon Recreation Reserve.

The Traralgon Highway Bypass was also presented as it provides an opportunity to construct a retardation basin that would mitigate future flood risks.

Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan thanked Minister Watt and Senator Ciccone for taking the time to visit Latrobe City.
