Food for thought as week two of Fresh 2019 kicks off

Headlining week two of the month-long Fresh festival is a TED-style talk by Father Rod Bower.

Fr Bower is known for his thought-provoking billboards at the Gosford Anglican Church, which have made national headlines.

In his talk titled “Reshaping our moral imagination: Turning good people in to just people”, the Archdeacon of the Central Coast will tackle how to create a world that’s inclusive and respectful of everyone.

Fr Bower crosses beyond the realm of religion and into social justice, which saw him receive the 2016 Doha International Award for Interfaith Dialogue and be named Abyssinian of the year by the Muslim community.

The Fresh program creatively combines Seniors Festival and Youth Week celebrations into a month-long program of talks, workshops and events for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Week one featured a mix of music, art, history, food and culture events – and there’s more on the way in week two.

“Father Rod Bower’s talk is one of the headline events in the month-long Fresh 2019 program, but there are plenty of other workshops and events throughout week two,” Council’s Director Community Janice Summerhayes said.

“The Fresh program is fun, diverse and engaging and gives you the chance to experience something new. This week you can do everything from learn how to make kefir to walking tours of the cactus and succulent garden in the Botanic Gardens.”
