Football Australia name change implemented

Football Australia, the governing body of football in Australia and member of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the international governing body for football, today implemented the resolution of its Congress at last month’s Annual General Meeting and transitioned to a new company name.

The name ‘Football Australia’ has officially replaced Football Federation Australia, regularly abbreviated to FFA.

Football Australia Chief Executive Officer, James Johnson, said the transition to the new company name of Football Australia signifies a new era for the game in pursuit of a fresh and exciting strategic agenda.

“Last month we received unanimous Congress support to change the name of Football Federation Australia to Football Australia,” Johnson said.

“This change had overwhelming support following a consultation process as part of the development of the XI Principles for the future of Australian football and marks a return to the roots of football in Australia.”

Football Australia requests that media utilise the name ‘Football Australia’ from today onwards, and that the company name not be abbreviated or manipulated when used.
