Former police employee charged with fraud offences, NSW

A former NSW Police civilian employee has been charged with fraud related offences.

In November 2021, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Karabin to investigate the armed robbery of licensed premises and aggravated break and enters at commercial shopping centres.

As part of the investigation, a 32-year-old man was charged in August and remains before the courts.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested the former employee – a 23-year-old woman – at Riverstone Police Station about 10.40am yesterday (Thursday 15 September 2022).

Police will allege the woman was involved in an aggravated break, enter and steal at a unit complex in Macquarie Park in July this year, as well as the submission of fraudulent insurance and taxation claim.

She was charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, participate in criminal group, conspiracy to knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and aggravated break, enter and steal.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 10 October 2022.

Investigations under Strike Force Karabin continue.
