Former swim coach arrested over historical sexual assaults, NSW

A former swimming instructor has been arrested as investigations continue into allegations of historical sexual assaults at a swimming school in Sydney’s south-west.

Detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation in August 2019, following reports two men had been groomed and sexually assaulted by a man known to them while they were children.

Their inquiries were assisted by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.

It will be alleged that the offences took place between 1997 and 2003 at a former swim school in Padstow.

Following extensive inquiries, a 44-year-old man was arrested outside a home in Sylvania about 7am today (Wednesday 18 September 2019).

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
