Camden Council is investing in local sporting infrastructure, with upgrades underway or commencing at four sporting facilities.
The projects at Belgenny Reserve, Fairfax Reserve, Nugget Beames Reserve and Nott Oval will deliver improved playing surfaces, modern amenities and upgraded facilities to support the growing number of people participating in sport across the Camden area.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Vince Ferreri, said Council was continuing to invest in sporting infrastructure to ensure local facilities kept pace with the community’s needs.
“Sport plays such an important role in our community, bringing people together, supporting healthy lifestyles and giving people of all ages the opportunity to get active,” he said.
“It’s important we continue to invest and grow this aspect of the Camden area, especially as our population grows. These projects will make our local facilities safer, more functional and better equipped to support players, clubs, schools, volunteers and the wider community.”
The Turf Upgrade Project at Belgenny Reserve, Camden South will improve the quality, safety and long-term usability of the sports fields. Jointly funded by the NSW Government Category 3 Club Grant and Camden Council, the works will include upgrades to levelling and regrading the playing surface, soil profile improvements to support turf health and water runoff and installation of new turf.
The sports fields will be unavailable from September 2026 for approximately seven months, weather permitting. The works have been designed in line with the adopted masterplan for the facility and will also help reduce the time required to return the fields to use following flooding events.
Council continues to investigate options for reinstatement of the amenities building at Belgenny Reserve, after an electrical fire gutted the first storey of the building in June 2026. Council remains committed to supporting the Camden Falcons and is engaging regularly with the club as investigations progress and future decisions are considered.
The New Amenity Building at Fairfax Reserve, Harrington Park will support the growing use of the reserve and meet the future needs of local sporting groups and the community. The new building will include changerooms and additional storage, improving functionality, accessibility and comfort for players, officials and volunteers.
There’s another New Amenity Building project being undertaken at Nugget Beames Reserve, Narellan Vale. The facility will provide additional changerooms and storage, improving the accessibility, functionality and comfort of the reserve for players, officials, volunteers and visitors.
The Nugget Beames Reserve car park will be closed during construction. Project deliveries will be restricted during school pick-up and drop-off periods, while additional noise restrictions will apply from 13 to 16 October due to the proximity of the HSC exam area.
And finally, the Floodlighting Upgrade at Nott Oval will deliver new LED floodlights achieving an average of 200 lux, improving visibility for evening training and games. The project is supported by $200,000 in funding secured through the NSW Government Office of Sport Project Support Program 2024/25.
A new scoreboard supplied by Narellan Rangers will also be installed, followed by lighting works, both of which are expected to be completed by 27 October 2026. The whole site will be closed to users and the public during these works, with maintenance works also undertaken during this period.
