Four new pitches a win for local soccer fans

A striking new $13 million soccer facility, officially opened at Fraser Rise last week, is already being enjoyed by local players and is the training home to new A-league club, Western United FC.

The City Vista Sports Precinct includes two synthetic soccer pitches and two natural grass soccer pitches, all at FIFA standard and Football Victoria standard. It also features a pavilion, spectator seating, commercial kitchen and bistro area.

City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the project was designed to support local soccer players and to encourage more residents to participate in sports.

“This is a spectacular new precinct and I’m so pleased that it will allow more people in the City of Melton to engage in the world game at a high level,” Cr Carli said.

“Soccer clubs in this area have been at capacity for quite some time and the City Vista Sports Precinct will go a long way to improving local opportunities to participate in sports and enjoy healthier and more active lifestyles, closer to home.

“What a wonderful asset for the community and a place where passionate local players can nurture their talents and perhaps even pave a future at an elite level.”

The precinct was funded with $12 million from Council, and $1 million from Caroline Springs George Cross Football Club which has also committed to valuable ongoing maintenance.

“The club’s contribution to this outstanding precinct is not to be underestimated and has ensured that this project has gone from a dream to a much-needed reality,” Cr Carli said.
